Description |
Atheros Communications is a leading
developer of semiconductor system solutions for
wireless communications products. Atheros combines
its wireless systems expertise with high-performance
radio frequency (RF), mixed signal and digital
semiconductor design skills to provide highly
integrated chipsets that are manufacturable on
low-cost, standard complementary metal-oxide
semiconductor (CMOS) processes. Atheros technology
is being used by a broad base of leading customers,
including personal computer, networking equipment
and handset manufacturers. |

Technology |
Atheros is the industry pioneer in
providing highly integrated, innovative single-chip
(MAC/Baseband/Radio), single and dual-band solutions
for the retail, PC OEM, consumer electronics and
enterprise/carrier markets. The Atheros AR5004,
AR5005, AR5006, AR5007 and AR5008 series WLAN
chipsets feature breakthrough technologies to extend
the range and reduce the power consumption of 802.11
wireless networks. When they are incorporated into
WLAN devices, Atheros chipsets offer end users
extended range, longer battery life and network
management tools that help reduce the cost of
operating and owning wireless networks.
Atheros XSPAN™ with Signal-Sustain Technology™ (SST)
unleashes the full potential of MIMO to
significantly enhance signal reliability and
throughput at range. This is achieved through the
world’s first single-chip, triple-radio RF design.
The AR5008 delivers up to 300 megabits-per-second
(Mbps) physical data rate with real end-user
throughput of 150 to 180 Mbps, and achieves, on
average, 50 percent greater sustained throughput at
range than 2x2 MIMO systems.
Atheros’ innovative AR6001 ROCm™ WLAN products
provide the lowest power, highest throughput
solutions for CE products. The company’s first
single-chip cellular solution, the AR1900,
implements a complete cellular transceiver,
baseband, application processor, audio paths, power
management, keypad, display and USB interfaces.
Atheros Super G® and Super AG® Technologies employ
multiple techniques, including packet bursting, fast
frames, and data compression – that dramatically
increase the throughput and range of wireless
networking products.
Atheros XR® (eXtended Range) Technology provides
single access point coverage in home networking
environments, eliminates the dead spots in corporate
wireless LANs, and provides outdoor coverage of up
to two times the distance of competing WLAN
solutions. |
